"‘It’s really exciting’: Why San Francisco is getting a sweet taste of Sacramento

A local chocolatier is taking a taste of Sacramento to the Bay Area.
Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates is expanding to San Francisco. The grand opening is Friday, according to a post on the company’s Instagram page.
The new location is at 3108 Fillmore St. in the city’s Cow Hollow neighborhood.
“Going to San Francisco has been a goal since before we even opened our retail store,” Ginger Elizabeth Hahn, who founded her business in Sacramento, told The Bee in January. “Beyond dreaming, this is what it was all for. I feel like we can have two really solid locations focusing on local farms. It’s really exciting.”
The retail store Hahn referred to was opened in 2008 at 1801 L St., Suite 60. She launched the wholesale business two years prior. Zagat recently named Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates as one of its 11 Must-Try Restaurants in Sacramento.
Starting Friday, the Bay Area will have better access to her small chocolates, macarons, ice cream sandwiches and seasonal desserts made with local and organic fruits.
“Sacramento is the reason we are able to go to San Francisco. The people here have been so supportive and amazing,” Hahn said in January. “We’ve waited nine years to grow. We just wanted to do it at the right time.”
It appears now is the right time."
