Rob Zinn's Expansion Used as Ceiling Motifs in Conrad Orlando Resort at Evermore

Conrad Hotels & Resorts Expands Luxury Portfolio with Brand Debut in Orlando, Showcasing Rob Zinn's Expansion Design

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hilton announces the opening of the highly anticipated Conrad Orlando, marking the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand’s debut in Orlando and second property in the Sunshine State. Nestled within Evermore Orlando Resort’s sprawling 1,100-acre property fewer than three miles from one of Orlando’s most famed theme park resorts, the 433-room Conrad Orlando features five distinct dining venues; the serene Conrad Spa Orlando and Water Garden; Evermore Bay, an 8-acre crystalline lagoon and expansive pool complex; and more than 65,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.

International architecture firm HKS and veteran Chicago-based interior design firm Anderson/Miller designed the hotel, which abuts a 500-acre nature preserve.

Conrad Orlando features an 8-acre pool and lagoon complex. Of the hotel’s 433 rooms, 61 are suites with added amenities, such as standalone soak tubs and outdoor living space. The hotel also offers family suites, which include a full living room, and poolside suites. Premium suites include kitchen and dining areas, while presidential suites offer unobstructed views of theme park fireworks.

Guests can dine on-site at the Polynesian-inspired Papaya Club, café Little Spoon, Mexican restaurant Ceiba, lobby bar Apéro and Southern Italian restaurant Sophia’s Trattoria, which features one of the two Expansion-inspired ceiling designs. The second floats brightly over a breakfast room.

It was not the first time that the forty-year-old design firm, Anderson/Miller, has explored working with Rob Zinn, Creative Director of blankblank, on a hospitality project and the firm has displayed multiple beloved blankblank designs in the lobby of their Chicago offices. This time, it was decided that a formed ceiling rather than a large-scale light fixture would be the most effective way to include the design into the overall project.

Anderson/Miller approaches each project with an emphasis on the creation of an authentic experience for the visitor that is rooted in a strong sense of place. The combination of creative, relevant and timeless design with keen attention to detail manifests itself in transformative outcomes that transition from the design phase to successful implementation in the field resulting in a nearly 90% repeat in client base.

Rob Zinn's Expansion design for blankblank was part of its founding exhibition in 2004 and remains one of the most popular pieces in blankblank's collection.
